Nature walk w/ Reba at Lone Star Lakes walking for roughly 30 minutes out and back.

Observations

Spotted a number of Male Cardinalis cardinalis at first by sounds then by sigh. Was unable to confirm if all were unique birds but can confirm there were between 2-3 spotted. One was initial spotted high up in a tree and getting a good photo proved difficult. In attempt photograph a male Setophaga coronata, a second C. cardinalis flew across my path at eye level from the under brush on one side of the trail to the other. I unfortunately was not able to get a photo of the S. coronata

Continuing on I found a spotted what could potentially be a nest of some type high up and took pictures at two different angles. I found a spot near by to both get a photo of a Polystichum acrostichoides and an unknown plant. I took a moment to sit at this spot and see if I could spot any other birds. While I could hear roughly 3 or 4 different bird calls I was not able to spot any of them. After roughly 5 to 10 minutes of sitting I began my trek back.

On walk back I spotted a sea gull with white body, grey wings, and black wing tips that flew past too quickly to get a good identification of it but was very likely Larus delawarensis. Also heard the loud calls of another Male C. cardinalis. This one I was able to not only pull out my camera without disturbing him, but was able to snap several pictures at close range.

Returning to the car we took weather down and returned home.
