Work & Observations
The early planted Pisum sativum var. saccharatum 'Snow Peas' are starting to get pods and some of them are almost ready to pick.
Most of the beds have no real change since my last entry, but some of the Spinacia oleracea 'Bloomsdale Spinnach' looks as if it has started to sprout. I will make sure I start to mulch that bed as the sprouts come up and get big enough.
One of the Allium cepa 'White Onions' looks like it has a bud on the end of one of the stalks. Not sure if it flowers, but I will have to look it up. [UPDATE: Sure enough White Onions do flower, which means at least one of my onions is happy enough to start producing flowers. Hopefully in a few weeks I will be able to collect some seeds.]
No new thrips on the outside Capsicum annuum 'Pimento' but that could just be a result of how cold it is right now.
Watered all the Veg beds and fed everything in the Tea and Herb Boarder. Covered the Snow Peas and the tea plants of the Tea and Herb boarder since the temperature will be at freezing tonight. Wind chilll will put it just past freezing.
Personal Thoughts, Sketches, and Photos
What is the best pruning time for all the woody plants in my beds and boarders?
Hibiscus
Rosemary
Blue Berries
Butterfly Bush
Do I need to dead head the basil or restart from seed in the spring? What about the Cilantro?
What is this plant at the end of bed 9?
It may be better to grow the sweet potatoes and other potatoes in horizontal beds in the fall and winter rather than in the vertical potato boxes I grow them in the spring and summer.
