Huntington, WV was our first trip with Road Trip Monkey.

This past year, a very dear person in my life and partner in wonder lust Brittany gifted me a stuffed monkey as a birthday present. This one was more than just any stuffed monkey though. This was Road Trip Monkey, and he had a back story. You see, Brittany once had a similar one when she was a child. As a child, her "Road Trip Monkey" was the plush that joined her on all her childhood trips. He would keep her busy by screaming, talking, pointing out exciting things, and all around driving her family crazy. One day however, her mom said he "ran away"and he was gone forever. That story was accepted, much to the relief of Brittany's mom, dad, and sister.

A minor detour in Huntington found us crossing the Big Sandy into Kentucky.

Recently, Brittany and I have discovered that we have a shared passion for travel, the tiny home lifestyle, and the van life. We've started discussing and planning out various adventures together, and since Raven and I bought our van, Brittany and I have planned to take it on a short 4 day adventure. Our friendship has hit a point where I've taken to jokingly calling her my adrenaline girlfriend, as she does all the crazy stuff like roller coasters that Raven isn't interested in doing.

Crossing into PA around 11pm Thanksgiving Day.

This connection in the adventure mindset has prompted her to give me my own road trip monkey as a birthday gift. Naturally, the best way to enjoy such a sentimental gift was to load up the car, hit the road to a new place we'd never been before, and share the adventure with her, and all of you that follow me on here.

Now that we have Serenity, Road Trip Monkey sits proudly on the dash, sharing in our adventures. So keep a look out, as Road Trip Monkey will pop up on here, periodically, to show you where we've recently been.

Road Trip Monkey excited to make it to OH on our Cuyahoga Valley NP trip.
